Amore Beauty Park Completes Smart Eco-Factory Construction
Amorepacific’s production and logistics facility, Amore Beauty Park, completed the “2024 Smart Eco-Factory Construction” project, led by the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment. The project was the first of its kind in the cosmetics industry. The “Smart Eco-Factory” project is a government initiative that supports the transition to environmentally-friendly factories to reduce greenhouse gases and pollutants while improving energy and resource efficiency.
Located in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, Amore Beauty Park selected 10 items related to information and communication technology (ICT), reduction of greenhouse gases and pollutants, resource circulation, and environmental health to implement the smart eco-factory support project. The construction of the smart eco-factory was completed at the end of last year. In 2023, Amore Beauty Park was selected as a Lighthouse Factory (Global Lighthouse Network) by the World Economic Forum (WEF), and the company aims to establish a competitive edge in supply chain management (SCM) through the adoption of advanced technologies.

SPC Group to Build Bakery Factory in Texas, USA
SPC Group has confirmed plans to build a state-of-the-art bakery factory in Texas, USA, with a $160 million investment. The factory will cover up to 28,000 ㎡ and is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2027. This investment is a key part of SPC Group’s strategy to expand its global market presence and is expected to significantly strengthen the company’s competitiveness in the North and South American markets.
In addition to the new Texas factory, SPC Group currently operates a 20,000 ㎡ bakery factory in Tianjin, China, and is nearing the completion of a 16,500 ㎡ halal-certified bakery factory in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Once the Texas factory is operational, SPC Group is expected to solidify its foothold in the global market.
Meanwhile, on January 20, SPC Group Chairman Young-in Hur and President Jin-soo Hur attended the US presidential inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C. They met with local political and business leaders to discuss economic cooperation and finalize the details of the Texas factory investment.

Dong Suh Foods Launches Maxim Mocha Gold Zero Sugar Coffee Mix
Dong Suh Foods has launched a new product, Maxim Mocha Gold Zero Sugar Coffee Mix, which offers a smooth sweetness without sugar.
The Maxim Mocha Gold Zero Sugar Coffee Mix is designed to align with the “zero sugar” trend, which aims to reduce sugar intake. Instead of sugar and corn syrup, the instant coffee mix uses alternative sweeteners like erythritol and polyglycitol, meeting the “zero sugar” standard of containing less than 0.5g of sugar per 100g of product while maintaining sweetness. It uses the same coffee as the original Maxim Mocha Gold, preserving the signature flavor even without sugar.

GS Group Holds AI and Digital Strategy Meeting
On February 12, GS Group held an AI and digital strategy meeting at the Gran Seoul Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The meeting was attended by Chairman Tae-soo Huh, top executives, and over 80 executives.
GS Group is promoting a comprehensive transformation of its business model through AI and digital technology. The AI and digital strategy meeting is part of this transition, where the group shares its strategic direction and listens to internal and external expert lectures to shape its future strategies. GS executives agreed on the need to improve work processes and pursue business growth through AI and digital technology. They also discussed strategies to prepare for the era of innovative technologies like quantum computing and explored ways to lead the future business ecosystem.

Samyang EcoTech’s Recycled PET Chips Certified for Food Containers
Samyang EcoTech, a subsidiary of Samyang Group that produces recycled PET materials, has obtained certification from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its recycled PET chips (R-Chip) as a material for food containers.
Samyang EcoTech is the only company in Korea that produces PET flakes (crushed PET bottles) and small granules of recycled PET chips through additional processing. The company began the certification process to expand the use of these materials to food containers and obtained certification for PET flakes from the Ministry of Environment in November last year. With the recent certification for recycled PET chips from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Samyang EcoTech has now secured all necessary certifications for using its recycled materials in food containers. With the amendment of the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources, which mandates the use of recycled materials, Samyang EcoTech’s PET recycling business is expected to expand significantly.

Chong Kun Dang Kochon Foundation to Provide KRW 3 Billion in Scholarships for 409 Domestic and International Students
On February 28, Chong Kun Dang Kochon Foundation held the 2025 Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Chong Kun Dang headquarters in Chungjeong-ro, Seoul. Founded in 1973 with the private funds of the late Chong Kun Dang founder Chong-kun Lee, the foundation was established to give back to society by providing scholarships. This year, the foundation will provide scholarships and free dormitory housing to 409 students, including 116 newly selected students, until they graduate. Among the selected students, 174 will receive a total of KRW 1.1 billion for tuition and living expenses. Specifically, 104 tuition scholarship recipients (63 domestic and 41 international) will have their full university tuition covered, and 70 living expense scholarship recipients will receive a monthly allowance of KRW 500,000. Additionally, 235 students from rural areas will be provided with free housing at the Chong Kun Dang Kochon Dormitory, which includes utility fees and other costs. The housing support will save each student more than KRW 7 million annually, totaling KRW 1.9 billion in housing benefits each year.
